Romero Named WGCA All-American Scholar Again

MALIBU, California – For the second straight year, Kaleiya Romero of the Pepperdine women's golf team has been named an All-American Scholar by the Women's Golf Coaches Association.

To earn a spot on the organization's prestigious list, student-athletes must have at least a cumulative 3.5 grade-point average.

Romero (San Jose, Calif./California Connections Academy), a rising junior, earned her second All-West Coast Conference first team award this past season. She was second on the team with three top-10 finishes and won her first college title at the season-opening Dick McGuire Invitational. She had a solid postseason, tying for third at the WCC Championships and tying for 16th at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional. Academically, the communication studies major also received WCC All-Academic first team honors and was also named an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar.

Romero helped the Waves win the WCC title this spring, and then finish sixth at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional.
