2021-22 Awards and Accomplishments

2021-22 PEPPERDINE ATHLETICS YEAR-IN-REVIEW
 
MALIBU, California – Pepperdine Athletics had another banner year in 2021-22, winning the Division I-AAA Athletic Directors Association All-Sports Trophy and accumulating many excellent performances, including NCAA runs by the men's golf (semifinalists), women's tennis (quarterfinalists) and women's soccer (round of 16) teams.
 
Here are some numbers on the school year:
 
-- Pepperdine won the Division I-AAA Athletic Directors Association All-Sports Trophy for the fourth time in school history, and the first time since 2011-12.
-- Pepperdine finished 62nd in the NACDA/Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup standings, which was second among WCC schools.
-- Seven teams finished with top 25 national rankings (men's golf, women's soccer, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's volleyball, women's beach volleyball, men's water polo).
-- Five teams won a total of six conference championships (men's golf, men's volleyball, women's golf, women's swimming & diving, women's tennis).
-- Nine teams competed at NCAA Championships or NCAA Regional events (men's cross country, women's cross country, men's golf, women's golf, women's soccer, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's volleyball, women's indoor volleyball).
-- 15 student-athletes earned All-American honors.
-- Three student-athletes earned conference player of the year honors (Shiori Fukuda in women's tennis, Lauren Gomez in women's golf, Dylan Menante in men's golf).
-- Four student-athletes earned other top league awards (Savannah Broadus Freshman of the Year in women's tennis, Grace Chillingworth Freshman of the Year in women's indoor volleyball, Lauren Gomez Freshman of the Year in women's golf, Bryce Dvorak MPSF Tournament MVP in men's volleyball).
-- Three coaches earned conference coach of the year honors (Michael Beard in men's golf, Laurie Gibbs in women's golf, David Hunt in men's volleyball) and another earned conference coach of the championship meet (Ellie Monobe in women's swim/dive).
-- 64 student-athletes earned all-conference honors (44 on the first team).
-- 85 student-athletes earned conference all-academic honors (39 on the first team).
-- 119 student-athletes earned a place on the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
-- 178 student-athletes earned Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete status.
-- In the NCAA Graduation Success Rate report (released December 2021), the Waves had an overall rate of 91 percent, better than the national rate of 90 percent. Eight teams had perfect 100 percent GSR rates (men's cross country and track, women's cross country and track, men's golf, women's golf, women's swimming and diving, men's tennis, women's tennis and men's volleyball).
-- Nine Pepperdine teams had perfect 1,000 scores in the NCAA Academic Progress Rate data (released June 2022): men's track, women's basketball, women's beach volleyball, women's cross country, women's golf, women's soccer, women's swimming and diving, women's track and women's indoor volleyball.
-- Pepperdine won the PCH Cup -- its annual series with rival Loyola Marymount -- for the 11th time in 13 years with a score of 15.0 to 6.0.
