WCC All-Academic Teams Released

MALIBU, California – A total of 55 Pepperdine student-athletes received West Coast Conference All-Academic honors for the 2021-22 school year on Thursday, with 15 of them achieving first team status.
In order to qualify for WCC All-Academic recognition, student-athletes were required to have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average, have at least sophomore athletic and academic standing, and participate in at least 50 percent of the season's contests.
Five Waves earned All-Academic first team honors for the third year in a row: Daniel De Jonge (men's tennis), Simone Priebe (women's beach volleyball), Madison Shields (women's indoor volleyball), Karl Winter (men's cross country) and Tim Zeitvogel (men's tennis). Shields also had the distinction of receiving first team awards in both beach and indoor volleyball this year.
BASEBALL
First Team: Greg Mehlhaff
Honorable Mention: Grant Georges, Quintt Landis, Nolan Lingley, Mike Malinchak, Michael Winaker
All of Pepperdine's baseball selections were first-time honorees.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
First Team: Eve Braslis
Honorable Mention: Jane Nwaba
It's the first WCC award for both players.
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
First Team: Karl Winter
Honorable Mention: Jackson Felkins, Austin Gromer, Ryan Hemphill, Nathaniel Lannen, Nathaniel Lerch, Kyle McCabe
Winter was named to the first team for the third straight season, while McCabe was honorable mention for the third time. Felkins was previously on the first team in 2019.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Honorable Mention: Skyler Danley, Skylar Davis, Paula Leigh, Annelies Ondersma, Riley Wright
Ondersma and Wright both made honorable mention for the third time, while Danley received it for the second year in a row.
MEN'S GOLF
First Team: Derek Hitchner
Honorable Mention: Dylan Menante
Hitchner earned All-Academic honors for the third time, and his second on the first team. Menante previously made the first team in 2021.
WOMEN'S GOLF
First Team: Kaleiya Romero
Romero collected her first All-Academic award.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Honorable Mention: Joelle Anderson, Zoe Clevely, Carlee Giammona, Kelsey Hill, Olivia Packer, Calista Reyes, Helen Schaefer, Tori Waldeck, Trinity Watson
Anderson and Watson were both selected honorable mention for the third straight year, while Clevely and Hill made it for the second consecutive season.
MEN'S TENNIS

Honorable Mention: Pietro Fellin, Eric Hadigian, Enrique Luque Rico, Corrado Summaria
De Jonge and Zeitvogel both made the first team for the third straight year. Fellin and Luque Rico were both honorable mention for the second time.

First Team: Shiori Fukuda, Taisiya Pachkaleva, Nikki Redelijk, Lisa Zaar
Honorable Mention: Anastasia Iamachkine
Zaar made the first team for the second straight year. Fukuda was honorable mention in 2021. Iamachkine received honorable mention for the second time.
WOMEN'S BEACH VOLLEYBALL
First Team: Peyton Lewis, Simone Priebe, Madison Shields
Honorable Mention: Cameron Baklenko, Savana Greene, Melanie Paul, Mary Sinclair
Priebe made the first team for the third straight year. Lewis also made the first team in 2020. Paul and Sinclair made honorable mention for the third and second years in a row, respectively.
WOMEN'S INDOOR VOLLEYBALL
First Team: Madison Shields
Honorable Mention: Rachel Ahrens, Emma Ammerman, Kayla Joyce, Isabel Zelaya
Shields was on the first team for the third straight season. Ahrens made the honorable mention squad for the second year in a row. Zelaya was on the first team last season.
