Waves Host San Diego For Senior Day

MALIBU, California – The #9 Pepperdine women's tennis program closes out the regular season with a West Coast Conference contest against #44 San Diego, a match rescheduled from March 5. Additionally, seniors Anastasia Iamachkine, Shiori Fukuda and Victoria Flores will be honored prior to the match.

With a win, the Waves would clinch their 10th consecutive – and 10th overall – WCC regular-season title.

SERIES HISTORY: Pepperdine has met USD 64 times, most among all WCC schools, and holds a commanding 59-5 lead all-time. Pepperdine's last loss to the Toreros came in 2012, and the last time USD defeated Pepperdine in Malibu was in 1989. Pepperdine has not given up a point to the Toreros since 2013.

WAVES IN THE RANKINGS: As a team, Pepperdine is ranked ninth in the ITA computer ratings and 12th in the Tennis Channel/USTA college poll.

SCOUTING THE WAVES: Pepperdine dropped two consecutive matches for the first time this season in last week's Oklahoma swing, falling 4-3 at #12 Oklahoma State before losing a tightly contested 4-2 decision at #2 Oklahoma on Easter Sunday. After earning two victories on the weekend, including a ranked win on Sunday, #102 Janice Tjen was named the WCC Singles Player of the Week for her efforts. The 48th-ranked doubles duo of Savannah Broadus and Shiori Fukuda are a perfect 5-0 this dual season, while Tjen leads the Waves with a 16-2 singles record. Pepperdine is also represented in the ITA rankings by Fukuda (#18), Lisa Zaar (#26), Taisiya Pachkaleva (#36), Flores (#57), Broadus (#94), Nikki Redelijk (#111), Broadus/Tjen (#23), Flores/Zaar (#25) and Flores/Tjen (#61).

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS: In a battle for second place in the WCC last weekend, San Diego lost a 5-1 match at #27 LMU. The Toreros' lone point came at the #3 singles position with a victory by Jordyn McBride. Solymar Colling is ranked 56th by the ITA in singles, while McBride has the best singles record on the squad at 13-1 playing from the two, three and four positions.
