MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine men's basketball team will spend next Christmas in Hawai'i, as it was revealed today that the Waves will be one of eight teams competing in the 2022 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic.
The event will be held December 22, 23 and 25 at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu on the campus of the University of Hawai'i. It's put on by ESPN Events and will be televised on the ESPN family of networks.
This will be Pepperdine's first-ever appearance in the 13th edition of the Diamond Head Classic, although the Waves did play in Hawai'i's Rainbow Classic in 2003 and 2008, and in other tournaments in the state in 1988 and 1998.
The other seven teams playing at the event are host Hawai'i, George Washington, Iona, Seattle, SMU, Utah State and Washington State.
