IRVINE, Calif. – The #15 Pepperdine beach volleyball team defeated another pair of opponents on Saturday afternoon, trekking to the Orange County Great Park to sweep past Cal State LA and take down Concordia 4-1.
The Waves improve to 5-0 this season.
Simone Priebe and
McKenna Thomas and
Jordan Benoit and
Kate Clermont went undefeated on the day and remain perfect with 5-0 records so far this season in the No. 2 and No. 5 positions respectively.

MATCH RECAPS
The Waves came out swinging against Cal State LA, with commanding first sets wins on all courts in the first flight.
Cameron Baklenko and
Rio Frohoff would score the first point of the day for Pepperdine, taking down Jaden Grova and Haley Roundtree 21-5, 21-11 on court four.
Simone Priebe and
McKenna Thomas gave the squad the edge heading into the next flight with a pair of 21-11 set wins on court two over Emily Elliott and Eliza Cannon.
Peyton Lewis and
Savana Greene also downed their opposition 21-7, 21-6 on the exhibition court.
The Pepperdine pairings in the second flight didn't slow down.
Jordan Benoit and
Kate Clermont would be the pair to clinch the match for the Waves, dominating Ayjah Landers and Talia Niy on court five with a 21-8, 21-11 victory.
The Waves on courts one and three wouldn't let up, however, as
Mary Sinclair and
Juju Quintero put down their opposition on court three 21-6, 21-14.
Melanie Paul and
Madison Shields finished off the sweep in the No. 1 position with a 21-5, 22-20 victory as well.
In the second match, Pepperdine once again came out with intent in the first flight. Priebe and Thomas put down another pair of 21-11 set wins over Hailee Ryan and Sara Ostijic in the No. 2 slot to give the Waves an early lead. In the No. 4 spot, Baklenko and Frohoff downed Ellie Cary and Isabella Bush 21-18, 21-18 to send the Waves into the second flight ahead 2-0. Greene and Lewis also defeated their opposition in the No. 6 slot 21-15, 21-16.
The second flight of this dual would prove closer than any other this season, though the Waves clinched early as Sinclair and Quintero picked up the win over Shannon Evans and Tatum Smith 21-12, 21-18 on court three.
Benoit and Clermont fell 21-19 to open their match on five, but quickly rebounded to take care of business, defeating Olivia Highstreet and McKenna Smith 21-17, 15-6 to make it 4-0 Waves. After a tough three-set battle on court one, the Eagles took the match to finish 4-1 overall in the dual.
NEXT UP
Next, the Waves hit the road for Columbia, S.C. for the Gamecock Grand Slam where the squad will take on LSU, Mercer, ULM and tournament-host South Carolina on March 11 and 12.
