Women's Track Heads to Pacific Northwest for Indoor Meet

MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine women's track team travels to the Pacific Northwest to continue its indoor season at the Portland Indoor Invite on Saturday.Â
MEET DETAILS
The meet will be hosted by the University of Portland, at the Austin Sports Complex in Newberg and at the indoor track inside the Chiles Center on Saturday, Feb. 5. Short sprint events will take place at Austin Sports Complex beginning at 11 a.m. and running events will occur later at the Chiles Center, starting at 8 p.m.
LAST MEET
The Waves opened up the indoor season at the BYU Indoor Invite on January 15 and had a strong showing by newcomers.Â
Freshman Kaley Peterson (Sunnyvale, Calif./Saint Francis HS) was the top performer in the 200 meters, collecting a time of 26.33, which was good for seventh place. Freshman Megan LaCamera (Burbank,Calif./Burbank HS) had the team's best time in the indoor mile, posting a time of 5:41.87, which was good for 10th place. Sophomore Skylar Davis (Savannah, Ga./Savannah Arts Academy) had the team's best performance in the 3,000 meters, as did freshman Caroline Fleenor (Alexandria, Va./Bishop O'Connell HS) in the 800 meters.Â
Pepperdine's top team in the 4x400 was freshman Maddy Ortman (Highlands ranch, Colo./Valor Christian HS), freshman Leah Dixon (Reno, Nev./Damonte Ranch HS), Peterson and freshman Eden Mittelsdorf (Nashville, Tenn./Brentwood HS). The Waves were also represented in the distance medley relay by senior Annelies Ondersma (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich./University Liggett School), Fleenor, sophomore Paula Leigh (Livermore, Calif./Granada HS) and LaCamera.Â

Head coach Lauren Floris said: "We're so excited to be taking the team up to Portland. This is the first time we will be racing up there and the first indoor meet at sea level that the ladies will have raced. The team has put in solid work the past few weeks and we are expecting to see big improvements since BYU."
UP NEXTÂ
Pepperdine will travel to New Mexico for the Don Kirby Elite Invitational on Feb. 11-12Â for the final indoor meet before the outdoor season, beginning on Feb. 26 at the Rossi Relays in Claremont, Calif.Â
