MALIBU, California – The #5 Pepperdine women's tennis program plays its fourth-straight match at home to open the season, welcoming 19th-ranked UCLA to Malibu on Saturday afternoon.

LAST MEETING: The Waves and Bruins played an all-time classic in the 2021 NCAA quarterfinals, with Pepperdine winning 4-3 to advance to the NCAA semifinals for the first time in program history.

Pepperdine earned two wins last weekend, defeating Columbia and Notre Dame, both 4-0, to advance to the ITA National Indoor Team Championships in Madison, Wisconsin, from February 10-14. The Waves did not drop a singles or doubles match on the weekend, while five different Pepperdine players won a singles match: #31 Shiori Fukuda (Tokyo, Japan), #10 Lisa Zaar (Stockholm, Sweden), #93 Janice Tjen (Jakarta, Indonesia), Anastasia Iamachkine (Lima, Peru), and #36 Savannah Broadus (Carrollton, Texas).
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
UCLA had three matches last weekend, as LMU shocked the Bruins on Wednesday, 4-3, to open the dual season for UCLA. The Bruins hosted the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, defeating Cal Poly on Friday, January 28 before falling to Pac-12 rival Washington, 4-3, on Saturday, January 29.
