GAME RECAP

In the bottom of the first inning, the Islanders took an early 3-0 lead. The Waves answered back in the top of the second inning after back-to-back walks from Ryan Johnson (Tempe, Ariz./Seton Catholic HS) and Greg Mehlhaff (Gresham, Ore./Clackamas HS) and a two-out RBI single up the middle by Jacob Rebrook (The Woodlands, Texas/ The John Cooper School) to get Pepperdine within two at 3-1. The Islanders put up five runs in the bottom of the second on three hits to make it 8-1.

After three scoreless innings from both sides, Conley led off the sixth inning with a double down the line to left field. Rebrook followed up with another hit to give the Waves runners on the corners. Peck hit a sacrifice pop fly to right field which scored Conley for the Waves' second run, with the Islanders still leading 8-2. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi scored two more runs at the bottom of the sixth, to go up 10-2.

Two walks for the Waves started the eighth inning and both runners advanced into scoring position after an Islanders' balk. Nolan Lingley (Tracy, Calif./Ripon Christian School) scored on a wild pitch to make it 10-3. Pepperdine had a runner on third with no outs and Peck at the plate. Peck hit a chopper for a single to the shortstop, which scored the fourth run for the Waves at 10-4. Pepperdine was unable to get it going in the final inning.
