MALIBU, California – The 2023 Pepperdine baseball schedule was released today, as announced by head coach
Rick Hirtensteiner, who enters his eighth year at the helm. This year Pepperdine will play a total of 50 games, with 26 games at Eddy D. Field Stadium and 24 on the road.
"The Pepperdine Waves baseball team has a strong schedule in 2023. The Waves will have competitions with teams in four of the Power Five conferences this season with series or games against UCLA, Alabama, Iowa and Boston College," said Hirtensteiner. "Midweek games against UCSB, Cal Poly, Hawaii, Cal State Northridge and Cal State Bakersfield will round out our non-conference schedule. The team is looking forward to playing against strong competition on our quest for a West Coast Conference championship."
The Waves open up the non-conference schedule with a series against Boston College (Feb. 17-19) at Eddy D. Field Stadium and then visit UCLA for a midweek game on February 21. Pepperdine will then head back to Malibu to host Alabama for a weekend series (February 24-26). Following the Alabama series, the Waves will head to the South to play in a tournament hosted by South Alabama from March 3-5. Pepperdine will match up against on the host Jaguars opening day of the tournament (March 3), followed by a game against Southern University (March 4) before rounding out the tournament against Iowa (March 5).
After returning from the tournament, Pepperdine will continue on the road at UC Santa Barbara on March 7. The Waves will head home to Eddy D. Field and host Cal State Fullerton for a weekend series (March 10-12) and a single-game matchup hosting CSUN (March 14).
Pepperdine will open West Coast Conference play in the Pacific Northwest with a weekend series against Portland (March 17-19). The rest of the conference schedule is as follows: vs. Gonzaga (March 24-26), at San Diego (March 31-April 2), vs. Saint Mary's (April 6-8), at San Francisco (April 14-16), at Pacific (April 21-23), vs. Santa Clara (April 28-30), vs. Loyola Marymount (May 12-14) and at BYU (May 18-20).
The Waves will also play non-conference midweek single games at CSUN (March 21), at CSU Bakersfield (March 28), at Cal Poly (April 4), vs. UCLA (April 11), vs. UC Santa Barbara (April 18), vs. Cal Poly (May 2), vs. Hawai'i (May 3) and at CSUN (May 9).
