MALIBU, California – Bryce Dvorak and
Austin Wilmot of the #4 Pepperdine men's volleyball team swept the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's weekly awards on Monday after helping the Waves to start the 2022 season with a pair of three-set victories over Erskine.
Dvorak (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar HS), a sophomore setter, was the MPSF Offensive Player of the Week. He directed the Waves to a .488 team hitting percentage over the two wins. In the season-opening match, Pepperdine hit .549, the program's third-best single-match figure in the rally-scoring era. Dvorak averaged 9.33 assists per set. He hit .571 by himself with a total of five kills, and also had a team-high-tying five service aces on the week.
Wilmot (Valley Village, Calif./Crespi Carmelite HS/UC Irvine), a graduate middle blocker, was the MPSF Defensive Player of the Week. He averaged 1.60 blocks per set, accumulating eight of them in five sets of work. He was a key figure as the Waves outblocked the Fleet 19.5 to 4.0 over the two matches. The blocks contributed to Wilmot's team-high-tying 17.0 points over the two matches.
This is Wilmot's third career MPSF weekly award, and Dvorak's second.
