Anderson Named to MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List

MALIBU, California -- Joelle Anderson of the Pepperdine women's soccer team has been named to the notable MAC Hermann Trophy watch list for the 2021 season.

Anderson receives her second consecutive recognition for the MAC Hermann Trophy, which is the most prestigious award in college soccer and is presented annually to the national player of the year. Most recent Waves to receive recognition were Hailey Harbison who made the watch list in 2018, while Lynn Williams and Bri Visalli were both semifinalists in 2014 and 2017, respectively.

Anderson (San Jose, Calif./Harker School), who is utilizing her COVID-19 redshirt year to play a fifth season at Pepperdine, is a four-time All-WCC selection (twice on the first team and twice on the second team) and a three-time United Soccer Coaches All-West Region pick (2020 and 2019 first team and 2017 second team). Heading into her final season as a Wave, she has accumulated 24 goals (eighth in program history), 16 assists and 64 points. She also ranks sixth in game-winning goals with 10. Anderson was selected by the Houston Dash in the third round (26th overall) of the NWSL Draft.

The COVID-19 pandemic delayed the Waves their fall 2020 season to spring 2021 and went 6-5-1, finishing fourth in the WCC. The Waves have seven returning starters and 19 letterwinners, with the returning players accounting for 76% of last season's goals (19/25) and 59% of the assists (10/17).

The Waves open up its 29th season today at USC and continue non-conference play on August 22 at SDSU.
