SAN DIEGO, Calif. – For the 28
th time in program history, the seventh-ranked Pepperdine women's tennis team finished first in the West Coast Conference, earning their eighth-straight WCC regular-season title and the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with a 7-0 win over previously undefeated San Diego.
No other WCC school has earned more than a single conference title. Pepperdine currently stands at 8-0 in the WCC and 20-3 on the season.
Nikki Redelijk grabbed the 4-0 clinch point for the Waves at the No. 6 singles position, going 6-1, 6-3 over Kati Kukaras. Playing in their last regular-season match for Pepperdine were seniors
Ashley Lahey and
Jessica Failla, who won on courts one and two respectively.

RECAP
In a day of lasts, the #7 Waves began in doubles. After falling on court one, court three pushed to a tiebreaker after trading games.
Astrid Olsen and
Ashley Lahey ran ahead, however, defeating Kukaras and Andryukhov at 7-6(4).
Lisa Zaar and
Taisiya Pachkaleva ended things on court two in the same fashion, using a 7-3 tiebreaker to win 7-6(3).
With the 1-0 lead heading into singles, #26 Failla earned her final regular-season win in a Pepperdine uniform over Goldsmith on court two, going 6-2, 6-1 to finish first for the Waves.
Shiori Fukuda was next to finish over on court four, going 6-1, 7-5 for the 3-0 Waves lead.
Redelijk took the clinch point on court six, going 6-1, 6-3 for the 4-0 all-Pepperdine score. #116 Pachkaleva earned her 22
nd-straight dual singles win on a Torero retirement, where her final score was 6-1, 5-7, 3-0.
#113 Lahey and Zaar rounded out the wins for the Waves, seeing the senior defeat #57 Solymar Colling 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 for her final Pepperdine regular-season win. Zaar continued her winning streak as the last Wave to finish at 3-6, 6-1, 6-3.
