#6 Women's Tennis Sweeps Portland 7-0

MALIBU, Calif. – The sixth-ranked Pepperdine women's tennis team won without a blemish on Friday afternoon, sweeping the Portland Pilots 7-0 for their fifth-straight conference win and 16th overall this season.
21st-ranked Jessica Failla clinched for the Waves, going 6-2, 6-1 on court two.

In a spotless day for the Waves, the wins began in doubles as Nikki Redelijk and Jessica Failla earned a 6-0 blanking of Marija Elenova and Angela Schuster on court three. Taisiya Pachkaleva and Lisa Zaar followed suit, shutting out Rimona Rouf and Jana Tanevska on court two as well.
In singles, all the Waves won in straight sets, seeing Redelijk race to the finish line first. The freshman defeated Tanevsja without allowing a single game to go to her Pilot opponent at 6-0, 6-0 on court six. Pachkaleva followed in a similar fashion, going 6-0, 6-2 and earning her 16th-straight dual singles win of the season.
#21 Failla was the clincher this match, delivering the 6-2, 6-1 blow on court two to secure the match for the Waves at 4-0.
Shiori Fukuda, Zaar and Ashley Lahey rounded out the day of wins for Pepperdine, where Zaar impressively shut out Rouf on court five after needing an extra game in the first set. It was the sophomore's 14th-straight dual singles win this season.

The Waves remain home to invite Gonzaga to Malibu tomorrow, April 17 at 12 p.m.
