Men's Tennis Plays Host to Cal Poly, Oklahoma State

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine men's tennis team finally returns to Malibu for a set of home matches against Cal Poly and #15 Oklahoma State this weekend.

SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
Cal Poly currently sits at an even .500 after playing six matches to start the season. Their wins include a 5-2 dub over San Diego State, a 4-2 defeat of Saint Mary's and a 4-0 drubbing of Sacramento State. Of their three losses, however, two have come by the hands of West Coast Conference foes San Diego and LMU. The Mustangs do not have any ranked singles or doubles players so far.
 
ON THE COWBOYS
#14 Oklahoma State is home to the third-ranked doubles team in the nation in Matej Vocel and Dominik Kellovsky, with the two clocking in at #49 and #61 respectively in singles. Cowboys Henrik Korsgaard and Emile Hudd round out the rankings for OSU at #86 and #101.
 
Oklahoma State has accrued wins over Wichita State, Tulsa and Arkansas, with the latter being the toughest competition in a 4-3 final score.
 
SURF REPORT
Pepperdine is coming off a tough weekend in the Grand Canyon State where they fell to Arizona State and #24 Arizona.
 
Guy Den Ouden saw two singles wins for the Waves, as he defeated ASU's Rakotomalala in a tie-break 6-4, 3-6, 10-3 and Arizona's Reguant in straight sets, 7-6(5), 7-5. The dubs were the freshman's first dual wins in the navy and orange.
 
Senior Adrian Oetzbach upset Arizona's 50th-ranked Ziverts on Sunday, dropping the first set 6-0 but storming back in the next two to deliver 6-4, 6-4 blows and earn a win for the Waves.
 
UP NEXT
The Waves will travel to Las Vegas to take on UNLV next Friday, February 26 at noon.
