MALIBU, California – The #16 Pepperdine women's soccer team has been awarded a first-round home match and a #4 national seed in the 2021 NCAA Tournament and the Waves will take on South Dakota State this Saturday, as the 64-team field was announced today.
The Waves (15-3-1) will square off against South Dakota State (17-3-1) at noon on Saturday at Tari Frahm Rokus Field. Pepperdine received an at-large bid by virtue of their #18 RPI and a third-place finish in the West Coast Conference. The Waves are 5-1-1 in home games this season.
E-tickets will cost $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for children. Patrons must purchase tickets prior to arriving on campus. Pepperdine students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with their Pepperdine ID.
Pepperdine is making its 12th NCAA Tournament appearance overall. The Waves' furthest run has been to the Sweet 16 three times (2002, 2005, 2014). This will be Pepperdine's sixth hosting an NCAA Tournament first-round game, and the first since 2017.
The winner of the Pepperdine-South Dakota State match will face either North Carolina State or South Florida the following weekend, and will be in Tallahassee, Florida, with overall #1 national seed Florida State as the host.
Santa Clara and BYU are the other two WCC teams to make the field.
