De Jonge Named Regional Rookie of the Year

TEMPE, Ariz. – Sophomore Daniel De Jonge of the Pepperdine men's tennis team was named the Southwest Region's Rookie of the Year award, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on Monday. He is only the second Wave to receive the award after alum Sebastian Fanselow in 2010.

The regional awards create a pool from which the national awards will be selected next Monday, May 25th via a special virtual awards ceremony on the ITA's Twitter, Facebook and YouTube accounts.

"Daniel has made a huge impact on our program in a short time," head coach Adam Schaechterle said. "We are excited for him to receive this recognition and look forward to his continued success as a Wave."

In his first year with the #19 Waves, De Jonge helped the team to an 11-0 record while going 5-2 largely on court one in dual singles and 7-0 in dual doubles with partner Adrian Oetzbach on court one.
