MALIBU, Calif. — Kicking off the fall tennis season, Pepperdine's David Fix and Aleksa Pisaric won the consolation doubles title at the Battle in the Bay Classic, held at the California Tennis Club in San Francisco on Sunday.

Playing in their maiden collegiate tournament, Fix and Pisaric beat San Diego's Adrien Berrut and Stian Klaassen 7-5 in an all-West Coast Conference consolation final. The Waves had a drama-free consolation bracket until the final: Their first round and semifinal victories were both by a double break or more. All told, the Waves went 3-1 in doubles on the weekend. 

In singles action, both Fix and Pisaric fell in their first round matches, sending them to the consolation draw. Playing in the back draw, Pisaric won the lone singles match for the Waves during the weekend by beating Timofey Stepanov of Cal in straight sets. He fell to Arizona State's Niels Villard in a third-set tiebreaker in the next round.

Pepperdine's next collegiate tournament will be the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, held in Milwaukee, Wisc. from Sept. 25-28. All schedule updates can be found on the men's tennis team's schedule page on pepperdinewaves.com.
