Theegala, Mouw Named to Final Haskins Award Watch List

MALIBU, California – Sahith Theegala and William Mouw of the Pepperdine men's golf team are two of the 10 student-athletes on the final watch list for the Fred Haskins Award, which goes to the nation's most outstanding Division I player.

Pepperdine and Florida were the only two schools to put multiple players on the list.

Voting for the Haskins Award, presented by Stifel Watch, will begin on Tuesday, April 7, and close on Tuesday, April 21. The winner will be announced on the Golf Channel in early May.

Mouw and Theegala helped the Waves reach their first-ever #1 regular-season ranking in program history this season, and Pepperdine was ranked #1 by Golfstat when the remainder of the season was canceled.

Theegala (Chino Hills, Calif./Diamond Bar HS), a fifth-year senior, is the top-ranked player in the nation by both Golfstat and Golfweek/Sagarin. In eight tournaments this season, he won twice and posted a 69.04 scoring average. He had six top-10s and was in the top-20 at all eight events. Seventeen of his 24 rounds were below-par. Theegala holds Pepperdine career records for scoring average (70.61) and below-par rounds (74) and is tied for the #1 spot in top-20 finishes (36) and wins (four). He's a two-time All-American and a three-time All-WCC honoree.

Mouw (Chino, Calif./Ontario Christian HS) ended his shortened freshman season ranking #10 nationally by Golfstat and #15 by Golfweek/Sagarin. He recorded a 69.96 scoring average in 24 rounds (17 of them below-par) and posted five top-10s and six top-20s in eight tournaments. He earned his first college win at the Amer Ari Invitational. Earlier this week, he was named to the U.S. Arnold Palmer Cup team for this summer's competition.
