AUGUSTA, Ga. -
Mahanth Chirravuri and
Brady Siravo went bogey-free during Sunday's final round at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational, leading No. 14 Pepperdine men's golf to a third-place finish.
Â
North Carolina's Sihan Sandhu and Georgia Southern's Thomas Horne tied for first overall in the tournament individually. Sandhu paced his Tar Heels to a team victory by shooting a whopping 54-under as a squad.
Â
"Great to have all five guys shoot under par at least one round this tournament," said Head Coach
Michael Beard. "We were consistent with each day being double digits under par as a team. We started slow the first few holes of the final round and showed a lot to come in with the 2nd low round of the day. Overall as a group, we took a nice step in the right direction this week in Augusta."
Â
Chirravuri picked up where he left off after the first two rounds, sinking three birdies on the front nine. He completed the day with another birdie on 18, recording rounds of 68-66-68 to finish in a tie for third overall. The senior finished just one stroke behind Sandhu and Horne. Chirravuri had just two bogeys on the final 36 holes, between rounds two and three, but canceled those out with a pair of eagles.
Brady Siravo was part of a three-way tie for seventh overall, landing inside the top-10 after also going bogey-free in the final round. The Sacramento native started even through the first four holes before burying a birdie on five and nine. Siravo found his stride on the back nine, sinking four birdies, including two consecutive on 14 and 15, before ending the afternoon with one last birdie on 18. His six-under (66) was one of his best rounds this season and he has now recorded a 68 or better in four of his last six rounds.
Â
Willy Walsh assisted in the Waves' success, finishing one-under. He was troubled by four bogeys in the first eight holes, but recovered to fire five birdies on the last 10, placing in a tie for 23rd overall.
Â
Byungho Lee completed the Invitational in a three-way tie for 38th after finishing the third round even. He shot par or better in each round, recording 70-71-E.
Â
Luke Dariotis finished in a four-way tie for 56th place overall, shooting his best round of the tournament on Sunday (three-under). He was five-over in round two yesterday but came back and shot three-under today where he buried four birdies and just one bogey.
