EAST LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Pepperdine women's swimming and diving team completed the three of the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference championships. The third day was highlighted by another school record that was broken by
Emily Morton in the 400 IM and
Sammie Slater winning the 200 freestyle.
Freshman
Emily Morton set another school record in the 400 individual medley 4:27.11, which earned her second place. The record was previously held by Alison McLeod at 4:28.17 and was set in 2008.
Khloe McCarthy followed Morton with an 8th place finish at 4:36.72 and
Olivia Kayye in 20th.
The next outstanding performance of the day was from Slater in the 200 freestyle. Slater won the event with a 1:51.93, out touching 2nd place by four tenths of a second.
Nohea Lileikis took 7th in the event with
Paige Brackett following in 12th.
In the women's 100 butterfly,
Trinity Ishikawa lead the Waves with an 8th place finish with a 58.48. She was followed by
Sarah Hamilton in 12th and
Caroline Anderson in 13th.
The 100 breaststroke was owned by Pepperdine with three swimmers snagging top eight finishes.
Kendall Brown was the top swimmer placing 4th in a time of 1:05.84,
Anna Riekhof was right behind her in 5th with a 1:05.90, and
Jenna Sanchez took 8th with a 1:07.08.
The final individual swimming event of the day was the 100 backstroke, where
Jasmine Williams touched in 3rd with a 57.36.
Julianna Birlin took 5th,
Amy Griffin finished 12th right in front of Ishikawa in 13th and
Megan Minor in 18th.
The diving portion of the competition was led by
Paulina Holmberg on 3-meter who took 6th,
Olivia Stotz placed 9th and
Isabella Wanninger received 15th.
The last race of the evening was the 400 medley relay, where Williams, Brown, Ishikawa and Griffin teamed up for a 3rd place finish in a time of 3:52.99.
The Waves took the lead after the third day of racing, with 944.5 points just 14 points ahead of Cal State East Bay with 930.5.
Swimming prelims begin again tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. with to start at 5 p.m.
