WAVEPOINTS
• The Pepperdine men's basketball team gets its shot against the nation's #1-ranked team as the Waves trek to Spokane to take on Gonzaga on Saturday night.
• Colbey Ross, who set Pepperdine's career record for assists on December 14, is now taking aim at the career scoring record. On Thursday night, he passed Doug Christie for 18th place on the all-time list. He's now just 386 points shy of the record.
• Ross is averaging a WCC-best 7.2 assists per game. Nationally, he's fourth in total assists (108) and eighth in assists per game. Ross has more career assists than any junior in the country with 526 (second place is 69 assists behind).
• The Waves boast three of the top seven scorers in the WCC: Ross (second at 19.5), Kameron Edwards (third at 16.7) and Kessler Edwards (seventh at 15.3). The trio has scored 64.3% of the Waves' points this season.
• The Waves rank first nationally in free throw percentage at 84.6%. They have hit 80% or better of their free throws in 13 of their 15 games, and they have had a better free throw percentage than the opponent in 14 of 15 games. Pepperdine has made 253 free throws as a team, tied for fifth-most nationally. The Waves have three of the top five free throw shooters in the WCC (Ross first at 91.9%, Kameron third at 82.8% and Kessler fifth at 78.7%).
• Kessler Edwards leads the WCC in rebounding (8.1), blocked shots (1.6) and double-doubles (five, tied).
• Other notable WCC stats: Ross is first in minutes (36.6) and fourth in three-pointers made (2.3), Darryl Polk Jr. is third in steals (1.6), Kessler Edwards is sixth in minutes (33.5) and seventh in three-point percentage (44.6%), Skylar Chavez is sixth in three-pointers made (2.1) and Kameron Edwards is ninth in rebounding (6.2).
• Pepperdine has been without three injured scholarship players of late. The Waves have been without at least three of their players nine times so far this season.
• The Waves, who are off on Thursday night, next play at San Diego on Saturday (Jan. 11).

WAVECASTS — Saturday's game can be heard online via WaveCasts at PepperdineWaves.com. Veteran play-by-play man Al Epstein, a 2015 Pepperdine Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, will be behind the microphone (now in his 35th season, this will be his 1,053rd consecutive broadcast for the Waves).

WATCH — The game will be televised by ESPN2. Dave Flemming and Dan Dickau are the announcers.

PEPPERDINE — Pepperdine boasts a one-of-a-kind athletic department with unprecedented success for a school of its size. The Waves have won NCAA Division I championships in five different men's sports — one of just 18 schools to have accomplished this feat — and nine overall. Of this elite group, Pepperdine has the smallest undergraduate enrollment, is the only school without football and is the only university that has not been affiliated with a "major" conference. The Waves have won a total of 25 team or individual national championships in their history. Pepperdine has also earned the Division I-AAA All-Sports Trophy, an award based on postseason success that's given to the top non-football school, three times (most recently in 2011-12). The Waves have produced 205 conference championships, 318 All-Americans and 53 Olympians. Located in scenic Malibu, California, the university overlooks the Pacific Ocean and its campus and athletic facilities are regularly voted among the nation's most beautiful. Pepperdine, which is affiliated with the Church of Christ, ranks #50 overall on U.S. News and World Report's list of America's best colleges.
