Swim/Dive To Honor Seniors On Saturday

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's swim and dive team will host Azusa Pacific on Saturday for the final home meet of the year. The Waves will also honor their nine seniors. The meet begins with diving at 10 am with senior recognitions at 11 am.
MEET DETAILS:Â The meet be held at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool in Malibu, Calif. The event will be livestreamed at pepperdinewaves.com.

LAST SHOWING:Â The Waves had a great meet last week in the WCC Cup, winning eight events over the two days and finishing in second overall. The first win of the meet came from freshman Emily Morton in the 200 IM, touching in a time of 2:08.95. Morton also went on to win two events on day two, the 400 IM with a time of 4:35.55 and the 200 backstroke swimming a 2:07.56. The Waves took home the final win day one in the 800 freestyle relay thanks to Morton, Sammie Slater, Nohea Lileikis and Khloe McCarthy, who swam a 7:56.08.

The Waves started day two with a win in the 200 freestyle relay, where the team of Jasmine Williams, Julianna Birlin, Jenna Sanchez, and Amy Griffin out touched the squad from San Diego, finishing in a time of 1:39.54. Slater was the next winner for the Waves on day two taking the title in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:56.21. Caroline Eckel took home final individual win for the Waves in the 100 backstroke with a 57.82.

The Waves finished out the meet with a remarkable 400 freestyle relay from Lileikis, Slater, Julianna Birlin and Amy Griffin, who posted a won in a time of 3:36.34.

SENIORS: The Waves will be honoring nine seniors on Saturday: Cassie Anderson, Catherine Gibbs, Gabriela Maffly, Khloe McCarthy, Megan Minor, Anne Mummery, Anna Riekhof, Sofia Shah and Kayla Smith.

QUOTABLE: Interim Head Coach Jana Vincent said: "I'm really excited to honor our seniors and their accomplishments. They have been a tremendous contribution to our team in their four years here. We are also looking forward to racing Azusa Pacific. They are a really strong team in our conference, and it will be a good last meet for us to sharpen before we head into our conference championships."

NEXT UP: The Waves will compete in the Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Conference Championships in two weeks. The meet will be held Wednesday, Feb. 12th through Saturday Feb. 15th at East Los Angeles College.
