Women's Soccer Meets Two Ranked Teams in Hawai'i

MALIBU, California — Following a historic weekend that included a win over then-#2 Stanford, the Pepperdine women's soccer team has two more opportunities against ranked opposition — #5 UCLA and #24 Washington State — this week at Hawai'i's Rainbow Wahine Shootout.

Kinsey Ehmann was named Top Drawer Soccer's National Player of the Week, while Isabel Nelson was the WCC Player of the Week.

MATCH #8 — Thursday (September 19) at the Peninsula Soccer Stadium in Honolulu, Hawai'i: Pepperdine (3-3-1) vs. #5 UCLA (5-1-0) at 4:30 p.m HT / 7:30 p.m. PT.

MATCH #7 — Sunday (September 22) at the Peninsula Soccer Stadium in Honolulu, Hawai'i: Pepperdine vs. #24 Washington State (5-1-0, plays Hawai'i on Thursday) at 1 p.m. HT / 4 p.m. PT.

WATCH/ONLINE — There will be no online broadcast for either game. Links to live stats can be found at PepperdineWaves.com.

OPPONENTS — Pepperdine is 3-19-3 all-time against UCLA. The two schools have played annually since 2003. The Waves won twice in their inaugural season in 1993, then posted a road win in 2010. The teams also met in Hawai'i in 2014 ... Pepperdine is 2-2-1 all-time against Washington State. This is the third time the two programs will meet in Hawai'i (2010, 2014). A 0-0 tie in 2014 was the last matchup.

LAST WEEK — Despite being outshot 22-3, the Waves shocked Stanford — ranked #1 by Soccer America and CollegeSoccer360 and #2 by United Soccer Coaches — 1-0 in Malibu last Friday. Corner kicks were 12-1 in the Cardinal's favor but the Waves made their one count, as Isabel Nelson headed in Hailey Stenberg's corner in the 20th minute. Kinsey Ehmann made six saves and three more Cardinal shots were cleared off the line by Pepperdine's defense. Then, on Sunday, the Waves got another shutout with a 2-0 victory over San Diego State on goals by Shelby Little and Stenberg.

NOTABLE — Brie Welch, Leyla McFarland and Shelby Little each have a team-high two goals out of the nine that the Waves have scored this season ... Pepperdine has one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country. The combined win-loss record of their non-conference opponents in 2018 was 120-62-20 (.643), and five of them won matches in the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Five of the first nine opponents will have been nationally ranked at the time of the game.

TICKETS — Single-game tickets at Tari Frahm Rokus Field cost $10 each for adults and $8 each for children under 12, seniors 65+ and alumni/Crest members. Students, faculty and staff are free with an ID. Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $5 each.

NEXT — The Waves' non-conference finale is a week from Thursday (September 26) at CSUN.
