MALIBU, California – Hira Naveed, who begins her professional career today, added one more award recently when Golfweek named her to its All-American honorable mention list.
Naveed (Perth, Australia) is competing at the Long Beach Open, part of the Cactus Tour, which starts Tuesday and runs through Thursday at Skylinks Golf Course and El Dorado Park Golf Course.
Naveed was also named an All-American honorable mention by the Women's Golf Coaches Association last month.
Naveed won three tournaments during the 2018-19 school year and finished with a 71.96 scoring average, second-best in Pepperdine single-season history. She also set a Pepperdine record with 16 below-par rounds. Naveed earned West Coast Conference Player of the Year honors this season, and was named to the All-WCC first team for the fourth time. She currently ranks #21 nationally by Golfstat. Naveed was also named to the international squad that won the Arnold Palmer Cup earlier this month.
She finished her career fifth on Pepperdine's all-time scoring list (73.59) and was fourth in below-par rounds (32) and ninth in top-20 finishes (23).
This is the 29th time that a Pepperdine player has received All-American status, and Naveed is the first since 2016. She is the 13th individual to receive All-American honors for the Pepperdine women's golf team.
Naveed helped Pepperdine to the WCC title this season, the program's first since 2015 and the 18th in school history.
