MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine men's tennis team defeated Portland 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center in Oregon.
The Waves currently sit at an even .500, going 9-9 overall and 3-2 in the West Coast Conference. The team will make a short trip to Westwood, Calif. on Tuesday for a midweek, non-conference match-up with UCLA set to begin at 2 p.m.

MATCH RECAP
Pepperdine began the match in doubles play, where they once again went down to the wire, leaving no match unfinished.
Enrique Luque Rico and
Corrado Summaria finished first, winning 6-3 with
Matias Sborowitz and
Pawel Jankowiak taking a 6-4 win and securing the doubles point for the Waves.
Only three courts were playable at a time, so
Adrian Oetzbach, Luque Rico and Summaria stepped up first. On court two, Luque Rico defeated Nicklas Oberg in extra points, going 6-4 and 7-6 and putting the overall score to 2-1. Summaria took an extra set as well, going 5-7, 7-5 and 6-2, giving the Waves a 3-1 lead.
In No. 4 singles play, Sborowitz solidified the win for Pepperdine by scores of 6-4 each set and handing the Waves the match point.
NEXT UP
Pepperdine travels to Westwood, Calif. next to take on non-conference foe UCLA at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bruin stand 11-4 overall and 4-0 in Pac-12 play, gaining one WCC win over Loyola Marymount.
