MALIBU, Calif. – Jonathan Pendergast of the Pepperdine baseball team was named the Rawlings West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
The senior from San Diego, Calif. was outstanding in his start against Loyola Marymount on Friday, throwing a complete-game shutout. He struck out 10 batters, walked only one and allowed just five hits over nine innings. The complete game was his second in a row, as he also threw a complete-game shutout against BYU on April 13. On the year, Pendergast has a 5-2 record, with a 3.17 ERA and 40 strikeouts. He is third on the team in WHIP, sitting at 1.21.
Pendergast and the Waves will be back in action Tuesday against top-ranked UCLA at home before going on an eight-game road stretch.
