Women's Golf Signs Transfer Megan Dennis

MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine women's golf team will add Florida Tech transfer Megan Dennis, a native of the United Kingdom, to the team in 2019-20.

Dennis has spent her freshman and sophomore years at Florida Tech, but the NCAA Division II school announced in February that it was discontinuing its women's golf program. Dennis will have two seasons to compete for Pepperdine.

"I chose Pepperdine because of the amazing experiences I will encounter both on and off the golf course," Dennis said. "Playing for Pepperdine is going to give me the opportunity to improve my golf with the quality practice facilities, and allow me to grow as a person."

Dennis, who hails from Bedfordshire, UK, was ranked 19th in NCAA Division II by Golfstat at the conclusion of the fall season and is currently 40th. She has had five top-10 finishes in 2018-19 for the Panthers, who are ranked fifth in NCAA Division II by Golfstat. Dennis was a 2018 Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar, and made the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Back home in England, Dennis took third place at the 2017 English Girls Open Amateur Championship, was co-medalist at the 2018 England Golf Astor Salver and was ninth at the 2018 English Women's Match Play Championship.

"We are excited to have Megan join the team in the fall," Pepperdine Coach Laurie Gibbs said. "As a transfer beginning her junior year, she brings experience that will be a great addition to our team. Her success in England and as a leader on a top-five ranked Division II team means that we will be adding a high-quality player to the lineup."

#25 Pepperdine won the West Coast Conference title this past weekend and will next compete in the NCAA Norman Regional, hosted by the University of Oklahoma, from May 6-8.

The Waves will see three seniors graduate from their lineup. In the fall, Gibbs announced the NLI signings of incoming freshmen Reese Guzman (Kahului, Hawai'i/Maui HS) and Alexa Melton (Covina, Calif./South Hills HS).
