#9 Waves Head to UCLA, Host Gonzaga, Portland

MALIBU, Calif. – After sweeping WCC opponents Pacific and Saint Mary's, the #9 Pepperdine women's tennis team will head to Westwood to face #8 UCLA on Wednesday. Following their match against the Bruins, the Waves will get back into West Coast Conference action at home on Friday and Saturday to host Gonzaga and Portland.

THE WAVES: The Waves are currently 11-3 this dual season overall. Senior, #88 Adrijana Lekaj has composed the most singles wins for the Waves with 22, including the most wins for the Waves in the dual season with a 9-4 output. Anastasia Iamachkine claims the next highest record with 18 wins this season including going 8-1 in the dual campaign, Satsuki Takamura and Daria Kuczer each have five wins, respectively.
Throughout singles tournament and dual action combined, #45 Ashley Lahey currently has a 13-6 overall season record, going 7-2 in the dual campaign. #81 Jessica Failla has posted an 10-6 overall record and Dzina Milovanovic currently holds an 13-7 record on the season.
In doubles this season, the Waves have collected a 22-12 record for a .647 success rate. #24 Failla and Iamachkine have amassed a 12-7 overall record including going 6-1 against ranked opponents. The pair of Lahey and Kuczer are currently 4-0 in dual play and Milovanovic and Lekaj are 6-3.
OPPONENT NOTES: Pepperdine travels to UCLA first this week. All-time the Waves have gone 17-55 against the Bruins dating back to 1977. Most recently, the Waves swept the Bruins at home on March 13th when the Bruins were ranked #6 nationally and the Waves had a #20-ranking.
The Bruins are currently 12-4 this dual season, with their only losses being to #2 North Carolina, #5 Stanford, #9 Waves and #11 USC. The Bruins have three ranked singles players, #21 Elysia Bolton, #41 Jada Hart, and #98 Abi Altick. The Bruins also boast four ranked doubles pairs #7 Gabby Andrews and Anyan Broomfield, #11 Elysia Bolton and Jada Hart, #49 Abi Altick and Alaina Miller, and #62 Hart and Bloomfield.
After facing the Bruins, the Waves will host Gonzaga and Portland. All-time the Waves have gone undefeated against Bulldogs with an 18-0 record dating back to 1995.
The Bulldogs are currently 7-8 this dual season, with an even 2-2 output in conference play. Gonzaga has one ranked singles player, #9 Sophie Whittle and one ranked doubles pair #22 Sophie Whittle and Graciela Rosas.
The final match for the Waves this week will be against the Portland Pilots. All-time the Waves are undefeated against the Pilots, with a 13-0 output dating back to 1998.
The Pilots are currently 7-7 this dual season and 2-2 in conference play. The Pilots do not hold any ranked singles or doubles players.
LAST WEEK AGAINST PACIFIC AND SAINT MARY'S: Last week, the Waves traveled to Northern California to sweep WCC opponents Pacific and Saint Mary's.
In the match against Pacific, the Waves earned the doubles point after wins from the pair of Failla and Iamachkine as well as Lekaj and Milovanovic. They went on to sweep the Tigers with singles wins from Iamachkine, Lekaj, Milovanovic and Kuczer clinching the match.
The Waves then met the Gaels, starting the match off with doubles wins from Kuczer and Milovanovic and Lekaj and Takamura. In singles, the Waves posted wins from Lekaj, Lahey, and Iamachkine to clinch a clean 4-0 sweep.
WCC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS: The Waves' Lekaj earned the WCC Singles Player of the Week. #80 Adrijana Lekaj was awarded the singles nod for her performance in the No. 1 and 2 singles positions last week, leading the #8 Waves to a pair of West Coast Conference sweeps over Pacific and Saint Mary's on the road. Against the Tigers, Lekaj took down Anneroos Nederstigt with a 6-3, 6-2 decision in the No. 1 slot. Then in the No. 2 position against Saint Mary's, she put up a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Chloe Goyette for the first win of the day against the Gaels.
ORACLE/ITA RANKINGS: The Waves are ranked #9 overall in the Oracle-ITA rankings. In doubles, Anastasia Iamachkine when paired with Jessica Faila  is ranked #24 and when paired with Ashley Lahey is ranked #78. Three Waves are ranked in singles #45 Lahey, #81 Failla and #88 Lekaj.
