MATCH RECAP
The Waves started off in doubles play as partners Daria Kuczer and Dzina Milavanovic beat their Gaels opposition 6-2. The 16th-ranked pair of Adrijana Lekaj and Satsuki Takamura had a bit of a challenge as Saint Mary's rallied and forced them into extra points, but snatched the doubles point by grabbing a 7-5 win.
In singles play, the win didn't take more than two sets per Pepperdine player. No. 80 Lekaj took down her Gael opponent first by way of commandeering 6-0, 6-2 scores, while 45th-ranked Ashley Lahey followed, defeating her competition 6-1 and 6-4.
Anastasia Iamachkine took hold of court six, clinching the match for the Waves in two sets with scores of 6-0 and 6-2 apiece. Courts three, four and five went abandoned due to the 4-0 sweep.
NEXT UP
The #8 Waves make a short trek to Westwood, Calif. to take on 11th-ranked UCLA before continuing WCC play in the Pacific Northwest. Pepperdine hosted the Bruins earlier this month where the Waves handed UCLA a 4-0 loss. Since that meeting, the 12-4 Bruins have only recorded one loss by the hands of Stanford.
