MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine men's tennis team defeated West Coast Conference foe Saint Mary's by a score of 4-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Waves now stand 8-8, going 2-1 in WCC play recording wins over Pacific and Saint Mary's. The win also adds to the all-time record against Saint Mary's, becoming the 25th straight win over the Gaels. The Waves have never lost to Saint Mary's.

MATCH RECAP
The Waves won the doubles point in a nail-biter, as the pair of
Corrado Summaria and
Enrique Luque Rico took down their Gaels opponents 6-2. On court one, partners
Adrian Oetzbach and
Tim Zeitvogel came back in exciting fashion from being down 4-2 to winning 6-4, as the pair went back and forth with the Gaels on the last set.
In singles play, two Waves won in straight sets.
Matias Sborowitz struck first, winning by scores of 6-2, 6-0, followed by Luque Rico who defeated his Saint Mary's opposition 6-2, 6-2.
The rest of the matches went into extra sets, as courts two and six ended up being abandoned after the match point. It was
Tim Zeitvogel who clinched the match for Pepperdine, as he split his first two sets 2-6 and 6-0. He came back in the third set after a short rally from his Saint Mary's opponent, taking a commanding 6-4 win and going 2-1 on the match.

The Waves travel to the Pacific Northwest to continue WCC play, taking on Gonzaga and Portland. Gonzaga stands 12-5, going 3-1 in the WCC after a single loss to San Diego. Portland is 5-10 and 0-3 in WCC play, taking losses to San Diego, BYU and Santa Clara.
