MATCH RECAP
The doubles point was quite competitive, but the Horned Frogs had the advantage. Sborowitz and Rico teamed up, falling to Luc Fomba and Sander Jong 6-4. On court three, Summaria and Jankowiak also fell 6-4. Oetzbach and Zeitvogel were tied with the 18th-ranked pair in the nation at five games apiece when the doubles point was clinched.
In singles, the Horned Frogs continued with their momentum. TCU won quickly on one, as Oetzbach played the #7 player in the nation, falling in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. Summaria put up a solid fight in the second set of his match, but fell 6-4, 7-5. TCU clinched the match on court four as Sborowitz pushed the second set to a tiebreak, but fell 6-3, 7-4. The coaches agreed to have the remaining matches play out, and the Horned Frogs won on courts two and six before the final match was being played on court five. Zeitvogel won his first set over Juan Martin, but dropped the second set 3-6. He then took care of business in the final set, picking up the Waves' lone match win by scores of 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
QUOTABLE
"I'm proud of the effort today," said head coach
Adam Schaechterle. "We played with great energy and took break leads on all doubles courts. We competed well at every spot in singles. We just need to continue improving our composure as we close out sets. We got a little too involved with the outcome of the dual match instead of staying in the moment. Our young team is learning and growing, and I couldn't be more proud of the group's attitude. We are excited for another opportunity tomorrow."
