WAVEPOINTS
• After three wins in three nights, the eighth-seeded Pepperdine men's basketball team is into the semifinals of the West Coast Conference Championships, presented by University Credit Union. After a day off, the Waves get to take on top-seeded and #1-ranked Gonzaga on Monday night.
• The Waves trailed Pacific by 12 with 13 minutes remaining in Thursday night's win. Pepperdine trailed LMU by 11 with 16 1/2 minutes left in Friday night's victory. The Waves didn't need a comeback on Saturday, beating San Francisco by 17 points.
• Pepperdine is playing in the semifinals for the third time in five years, and for the 16th time in tournament history.
• The Waves have won multiple games in a single WCC Championships for the first time since 2002 (the last time they made the final). They previously had only won three games in a tournament with their three championships in the early 1990s. Pepperdine has beaten two higher-seeded teams in a tournament for the first time since the inaugural event in 1987.
• The Waves have defeated a team at the WCC Championships after being swept in the regular season three times in two years (Santa Clara 2018; Pacific and USF 2019).
• Colbey Ross is averaging 20.0 points in the tournament, including 26 vs. USF and 20 vs. LMU. The All-WCC first team pick will set or tie at least 10 school records this year, including assists and free throws made in a season. The sophomore is already fifth all-time in assists at Pepperdine and he should break that record next year as a junior. At the start of the tournament, he ranked fourth nationally in assists and in the top three in free throws made and attempted.
• The top three-point shooting team in the league, Pepperdine went 14-for-28 vs. USF and 10-for-19 vs. LMU from distance.
• Lorenzo Romar has helped elevate the Waves as he begins his second stint as head coach. He recorded his milestone 400th career victory on January 12 at San Diego. He's led the Waves to double-digit wins for the first time since 2015-16, and the Waves have more than doubled last year's win total while tripling the WCC victory total.

PEPPERDINE — Pepperdine boasts a one-of-a-kind athletic department with unprecedented success for a school of its size. The Waves have won NCAA Division I championships in five different men's sports — one of just 18 schools to have accomplished this feat — and nine overall. Of this elite group, Pepperdine has the smallest undergraduate enrollment, is the only school without football and is the only university that has not been affiliated with a "major" conference. The Waves have won a total of 25 team or individual national championships in their history. Pepperdine has also earned the Division I-AAA All-Sports Trophy, an award based on postseason success that's given to the top non-football school, three times (most recently in 2011-12). The Waves have produced 205 conference championships, 318 All-Americans and 53 Olympians. Located in scenic Malibu, California, the university overlooks the Pacific Ocean and its campus and athletic facilities are regularly voted among the nation's most beautiful. Pepperdine, which is affiliated with the Church of Christ, ranks #46 overall on U.S. News and World Report's list of America's best colleges.
