NAMPA, Idaho – Abbey Meck broke her own record in the mile as the Pepperdine women's track team concluded its indoor season at the Boise State Challenge on Saturday.
Meck (Santa Cruz, Calif./San Lorenzo Valley HS), a sophomore, won her heat in the mile in a time of 5:15.83 and finished in 12th place overall out of 43 runners. She bettered her own record time of 5:20.72 set last year in Boise. Meck ran in a pair of events and was also Pepperdine's top finisher in the 800 meters with a time of 2:28.47. Meck also owns Pepperdine's records in the indoor 3,000 and 5,000 meters.

Cori Persinger (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit West HS) won a heat in the 800 meters.
Most of Pepperdine's team competed at Washington's Husky Invitational on Friday. Six members of the squad competed today in just three events: the 400, 800 and mile.
Outdoor season begins next week for both the men's and women's teams with the annual three-team meet against UC Santa Barbara and Westmont, set for next Saturday (Feb. 16) in Santa Barbara.
