Men's Tennis to Host ITA Southwest Regional

MALIBU, Calif. – The Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center, home of the Pepperdine tennis teams, will play host to the men's 2019 ITA Southwest Regional Championships from Thursday, October 17 to Sunday, October 20.

The tournament is one of 12 sites chosen for each region and serves as a qualifier for the Oracle/ITA National Fall Championships as finalists from each region will make the fall championship bracket.

Every member of the Pepperdine men's tennis team will be in action this weekend following huge performances from sophomores Corrado Summaria and Tim Zeitvogel in the ITA All-American qualifying rounds.

Summaria has created buzz the past couple of weeks, beating the likes of #14 Hady Habib (TAMU) and #63 Zdenek Derkas (Fresno St.) in the Oracle/ITA Masters and defeating players from the likes of powerhouses Duke and SMU. He finished in the qualifying first round of the ITA All-American Championships after winning four-straight matches and ending his week 5-1.

Zeitvogel also proved to be reckoned with after his week in the ITA All-American pre-qualifiers, winning four-straight and finishing 5-1 as well.

It will be the second outing for freshmen Evan Shamlian and Robert Shelton after last week's SDSU Fall Invite. Fellow Waves Adrian Oetzbach, Pawel Jankowiak and Enrique Luque Rico will also see the courts this weekend.
