
Five Waves Garner WCC All-Academic Honors

MALIBU, Calif. - Five student-athletes from the No. 2 Pepperdine beach volleyball team earned West Coast Conference All-Academic acclaim, as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon. Seniors Maddie Dilfer and Corinne Quiggle and junior Madalyn Roh highlighted with first team honors, while juniors Skylar Caputo and Heidi Dyer tabbed honorable mention accolades.
In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must have at minimum a 3.20 grade point average, have at least sophomore standing and have participated in at least 50 percent of the season's events.
Madalyn Roh (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral HS) has maintained a 3.704 GPA while studying Integrated Marketing Communications at Pepperdine the past three years. She was an AVCA and Volleyball Magazine All-American first team in 2017 and a two-time All-WCC first team honoree in 2016 and 2017. She earned WCC All-Academic first team accolades in 2017 and has been a two-time Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete and WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll 'gold' honoree. On the beach this season, she has played at both the No. 1 and No. 2 position, collecting a 20-7 overall record with partner Brook Bauer.
Corinne Quiggle (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Ponte Vedra HS) will graduate with a degree in Business Administration and has marked a 3.634 grade point average throughout her four years at Pepperdine. She is a Volleyball Magazine All-American and an All-WCC first teamer on the beach, while also earning WCC All-Academic first team honors in 2017 and honorable mention in 2016. She is a three-time Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete and has received WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll 'silver' honors in 2017 and 'bronze honors in 2016. This season on the beach, she has spent time in both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions for the Waves, collecting a 22-5 overall record alongside partner Deahna Kraft.
Maddie Dilfer (Saratoga, Calif./Valley Christian HS/Notre Dame) will graduate with a degree in Sport Administration and has maintained a 3.864 grade point average. She is a Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete and received WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll 'gold' honors after her first year with the Waves last season. On the beach, she has marked a 14-10 overall record in the No. 5 position, while excelling late in the season alongside partner Nikki Lyons for a 12-4 record as a pair.
Skylar Caputo (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa HS) possesses a 3.282 GPA while studying Sport Administration at Pepperdine the past three years. She was an All-WCC second teamer in both 2016 and 2017 and made the WCC All-Freshman Team in 2016. She earned WCC All-Academic honorable mention honors in 2017 and is a two-time Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete and WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll 'bronze' honoree. This season on the beach, Caputo has been a mainstay on the court in the No. 4 position with Alexis Filippone as the pair has gone 25-2 overall this season for the Waves thus far.
Heidi Dyer (San Clemente, Calif./Saddleback Valley Christian HS) has posted a 3.342 grade point average while studying Integrated Marketing Communications the past three years. She was an AVCA and DiG Magazine All-American first teamer in 2016 and garnered WCC All-Freshman Team honors in both beach and indoor in 2015-16. She was an All-WCC second team selection and earned WCC All-Academic honorable mention status in 2017. Twice, she garnered Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete and WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll 'bronze' honors in 2015-16 and 2016-17 for both beach and indoor volleyball. This season, Dyer has excelled on the sand alongside partner Gigi Hernandez, with a 20-7 overall record from the No. 3 position.
