
#2 Pepperdine Wins Third-Straight WCC Championship Title

MALIBU, Calif. -- The No. 2-ranked and top-seeded Pepperdine beach volleyball won the third-consecutive West Coast Conference Championship crown on Saturday afternoon, defeating third-seeded Saint Mary's on back-to-back occasions for the honor.
With Head Coach Nina Matthies' final WCC Championship title, the Waves (24-3) now hold a 15-0 pairs record at the WCC tournament after the three seasons of its existence. The NCAA Selection Show will air Sunday, April 29.

Deahna Kraft and Corinne Quiggle clinched the overall with a 21-16, 21-18 victory over Payton Rund and Morgan Hughes on court one. The Waves' No. 2 and five pairs finished out the match with Waves' wins on their respective courts as well. Brook Bauer and Madalyn Roh bested Lindsey Knudsen and Emily Bible 21-16, 22-20 in the No. 2-slot and Maddie Dilfer and Nikki Lyons put down Madi Wilkerson and Sienna Young 13-21, 21-10 and 15-8 to complete the sweep to advance to the WCC Championship final.
In the final, the Waves came out equally as strong, but Saint Mary's gave Pepperdine a run for their money. Dyer and Hernandez opened the action with another quick win over Chase and Hernandez, winning 21-11, 21-14 on court three. Then, Bauer and Roh bested Knudsen and Bible 21-9 and 21-17 in the No. 2 position to leave the match open for a clinching.
The Waves' No. 5 pair would do the honors as Dilfer and Lyons put down Wilkerson and Young on court five with a 21-15, 22-20 final mark. Caputo and Filippone then collected a 21-15, 15-21, 17-15 final score to make it 4-0 Waves in the match. To close, Kraft and Quiggle bested Rund and Hughes 19-21, 21-15, 15-9 on court one to close the match out completely.
