MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine men's tennis team hosted Boise State at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center on Friday afternoon, falling 4-1 in the non-conference matchup.
Yusuf Khamis won his singles match at court four, for the Waves (2-8), while the Broncos (4-8) opened the action early with the doubles point and continued towards three singles wins for the overall victory.

During doubles play, Boise State came out strong from the beginning. Mattia Bedolo and Pedro Platzeck defeated Brian Berdusco and Yusuf Khamis 6-1, and Jack Heslin teamed up with Kyle Butters to defeat the Waves' top pairing of Lautaro Pane and Dane Esses, 6-4. Max Mendlesohn and Scotland Garapedian were down 2-5 in their match with Harvey Shackleton and Matteo Tinelli when the point was clinched.
In singles play, Khamis fought hard against Bedolo on court four and was rewarded, eventually taking his match 6-4, 6-2. Esses, playing in the number one position took his first set with Heslin to 5-5 before dropping the set 5-7. After losing the first set 4-6, Pane's match was tied at four games apiece. Esses' and Pane's matches went unfinished as the overall dual was clinched on court two. The Broncos picked up wins on courts two and six to finish with the 4-1 victory.
