The Waves got the scoring started in the third inning after Quincy McAfee hit a ball to shortstop with the bases loaded, scoring Modlin. The play continued, though, as Duncan McKinnon scored on a throwing error to give the Waves a 2-0 lead.

Modlin scored again in the fourth, this time on a sacrifice fly from Joe Caparis to give Pepperdine a 3-0 lead over the Pirates after four innings of action.

Jensen started on the mound for the Waves, and was relieved by Kiko Garcia in the sixth, finishing the day with a final line of 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 K. The one run would come in the sixth, when an error resulted in a run.

Going into the seventh inning, the Waves held a 3-1 lead. The fourth run was scored in the seventh, on an error, pushing the lead back to three runs heading into the eighth.

After a scoreless eighth, the Waves came back in the ninth and scored four runs with no outs. Malinchak and Wills both walked to lead off the inning, and Modlin reached on a fielding error. McKinnon stepped up to the plate and was hit by a pitch, scoring Malinchak. A walk by Caparis scored another and Quincy McAfee was hit by a pitch to score the fourth of the inning.

After a strikeout, Qsar doubled down the right field line to plate both McKinnon and Caparis. Malinchak came up for his second at-bat of the inning and promptly sliced a triple down the left field line, scoring two more. Ben Slattery took the hill from Michael Mahony, who relieved Garcia, with a 12-2 lead. He would hold the Pirates to no runs, giving the Waves a 10-run victory.
