MALIBU, Calif. -- The top-ranked Pepperdine beach volleyball team dominated Zuma Beach on Wednesday afternoon, defeating No. 4 Florida State 4-1 to advance to 11-2 overall this season. Gigi Hernandez and Heidi Dyer clinched for the Waves with a commanding two-set win on court three.
After the match against the Seminoles (9-4) today, the Waves head across the country for the Gamecock Grand Slam in Columbia, S.C. on Saturday and Sunday.

- 1: Madalyn Roh led the pair with 14 kills and three blocks, while Brook Bauer added 11 kills. Each Wave had three aces throughout the match.
- 2: Deahna Kraft led with 15 kills and four blocks, while Corinne Quiggle was instrumental with 11 kills, one block and one ace.
- 3: Heidi Dyer had a pair-high 15 smashes, three aces and one block, while Gigi Hernandez was good for 15 kills and two aces to help the cause.
- 4: Skylar Caputo produced a staggering 22 kills and one ace, while Alexis Filippone was equally impacting with 17 kills, three aces and two blocks.
- 5: Nikki Lyons put up 13 kills and a solid eight blocks, while Maddie Dilfer added 10 kills and four aces as well as adding a solid performance on defense.

On four, Skylar Caputo and Alexis Filippone battled it out with Katie Horton and Hailey Luke, eventually winning the game with a 21-12, 18-21 and 15-13 final line to put the Waves up. FSU won in the third set on five to split the action heading into the second flight.
Pepperdine came out strong in the first set of the second flight as well, winning first sets on all three top courts. On court two, Deahna Kraft and Corinne Quiggle were the first to finish with a 21-14, 21-13 win over Tory Paranagua and Macy Jerger to put the Waves up 2-1 with two matches still playing.
Heidi Dyer and Gigi Hernandez were determined to clinch in the second set on court three, and did just that, as they downed Brooke Kuhlman and Francesca Goncalves 21-11, 21-17 to clinch the overall dual for the Waves and put their team up 3-1 with just court one still duking it out. After winning the first set 21-14 and falling 14-21 in the second, the top match was any teams to take. Brook Bauer and Madalyn Roh had the grit necessary, however, as they battled back from a 10-12 deficit against Sara Putt and Vanessa Freire to win the third set 15-13 and give the Waves a 4-1 final score.
