The Waves got off to a hot start, with McAfee doubling to deep left-center field, and then coming around to score on a passed ball and a wild pitch, giving the Waves a 1-0 lead after one inning of play. On the mound, Stoutland was extremely effective, giving up only three hits and one run.

The Waves retook the lead in the bottom half of the fifth, when Aharon Modlin was hit by a pitch and bunted to second by Joe Caparis. McAfee then hit a sharp line drive up the middle to score Modlin from second.
In the sixth inning, the Spartans opened the game up. Stoutland exited the game after five innings, handing the ball off to Jonathan Pendergast. After a walk, Marty Bechina hit a ball into deep left-center and over the wall for a two-run home run. Two more runs would score in the inning after an error and an RBI single.
