 | PLAY-BY-PLAY |
The Spartans were the first to get on the board, with a solo shot in the second inning by Chad Roskelly, giving them a 1-0 lead.
The Waves came back in the second and threatened with the bases loaded, but could not get a run across. In the third inning, Belk led off with a single through the left side, followed by a single from Matt Kanfer before Qsar came up. He blasted a fastball to deep right-center field, and the Spartan center fielder watched the ball sail over the wall. The shot was Qsar's first home run on the year, and it gave the Waves a 3-1 lead after three innings.
After a quick 1-2-3 inning from Jensen, who was stellar all day, Lambert led the fourth off with a home run of his own, this one to deep center field. The home run gave the Waves a 4-1 lead.
Davis gave the Waves a four-run cushion in the fifth, singling Billy Cook home on a chopper to short that Davis beat out.
After eight solid innings from Jensen, Senior righty Kiko Garcia came on in the ninth to finish the job. The Spartans did threaten, getting runners on first and second with two outs, but Garcia struck out the final batter to give the Waves their third win of the year.
