NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Pepperdine baseball is preparing for its third and final regular season contest against the CSUN Matadors, which is scheduled for a 5:00 pm PT first pitch Tuesday evening.
Tuesday, April 7 | 5:00 pm PT | Robert J. Hiegert Field/Matador Field | Listen Live | Live Stats | Tickets
- Probable starting pitchers: RHP #43 Jackson Pace (0-1, 10.61 ERA) vs. RHP #35 Charles Rogers (0-1, 9.68 ERA)
It's the second trip to Northridge in about a month for the Waves, who dropped the first meeting earlier this season, 12-1. Pepperdine was a much different squad in a triumphant 5-4 walk-off victory last Tuesday, thanks to
Daniel Patterson's eighth home run of the season.
The blue and orange have a 51-49-2 advantage in the all-time series. CSUN has taken seven of the last 11 matchups.
LONG TIME NO SEE
All three contests' between the Waves and Matadors have come within the last month and twice in the last week.
WILL YOU BE MY VALENTINE?
Redshirt junior starting pitcher
Collin Valentine has provided the Waves consistency on the hill this season. The southpaw ranks third on the team in ERA (4.14) while working 37 innings so far this season, second-most only behind
Tommy Scavone's 43.1. He has sat down lefties this season, allowing just a .135 average (5-for-37) against left-handed batters.
HORTON CAN HIT
Nash Horton had made a great impact in the Waves' lineup this season, recording a .278 average through 54 at-bats. The freshman has driven in five, score four runs, drawn six walks, and been hit by a pitch once. Among qualifiers, Horton's .355 on-base percentage slots in for the fourth-best on the team.
THE GREAT 8
Daniel Patterson has been putting up all-conference numbers this season, boasting a team-leading .305 average while rocking a .973 OPS. His eight home runs are part of a three-way tie for the second-most in the West Coast Conference. Of Patterson's 36 hits this season, 18 have gone for extra bases (nine doubles, one triple, eight homers), which ranks as the second-most in the conference. He has racked up 70 total bases so far in 2026, which slots as the third-most in the WCC.
WELL DUNN
Outfielder
Trey Dunn has stepped up in a big way at the dish this season. He has a team-leading five multi-RBI games and paced the squad with a 12-game on-base streak that came to an end last Tuesday against CSUN. No. 5 has been a balanced hitter in 2026, recording a .269 average against southpaws (7-for-26) while going 15-for-65 (.231) against right-handers. He's been excellent with runners on base, mashing at a .300 clip (12-for-40) while tallying six RBI with two outs, the most on the team alongside
Daniel Patterson and
James Dell'Amico.
AUDE LONG
Catcher
Max Aude has been consistent behind the plate and in the batter's box this season. Number nine is hitting .264 entering Tuesday's clash with CSUN and has been one of Pepperdine's best hitters with runners on base, recording a .391 average (9-for-23). He has been just as good with runners in scoring position, boasting a .500 average (5-for-10).
TERRIFIC TRIO
Daniel Patterson and
James Dell'Amico have fortified the Waves' offense this season. Patterson leads the squad with 12 multi-hit games, while Dell'Amico has racked up eight, tying for the second-most on the team alongside
Kai Laxa and
Julian Nunez. Patterson, 'Delly', and
Kai Laxa are in a three-way tie for the longest hitting streak this season (8 games) , with Laxa having that streak snapped last Tuesday against CSUN. Patterson is on a brand-new five-game hitting streak.
SHUTDOWN STEWART
The results are in, and it shows that
Dylan Stewart has that dog in him. On 'Bark in the Park' day Sunday against San Diego on March 29, No. 44 relieved starter
Collin Valentine at the beginning of the fifth and ended up going the distance, tallying five scoreless innings. He gave up just one hit and one walk while sitting down six and earning his first win of the season. Closer
Lucien Wechsberg was ready to go in the bullpen but Stewart struck out Gabe Springer to finish off the series-clinching win over the team picked to finish first this season in the WCC.
PUTTING THE 'W' IN WECHSBERG
Graduate pitcher
Lucien Wechsberg has been one of the most reliable Waves' arms this season. In 15.1 innings, Lucien has recorded a 1.76 ERA along with a 1.30 WHIP. He has given up just 13 hits while striking out 16 and walking seven. Opponents are hitting .228 off of Wechsberg, who has been involved in seven of the Waves' 10 wins (three wins, four saves).
DYNAMITE DELLY
James Dell'Amico has been electric all season, hitting a blistering 14-for-36 (.389) with runners in scoring position. He is also tied with
Daniel Patterson and
Trey Dunn for the most two-out RBI on the squad (6).
