The Bruins got the first run on the board in the second inning, on an RBI single from Daniel Amaral, scoring Jake Pries from second, giving the Bruins a 1-0 lead.

Chandler threw four innings of solid baseball, giving up only the one run in the second. He also had five strikeouts and gave up five hits. Farraye came on in relief to start the fifth inning and threw two scoreless innings, giving up only one hit.

The Bruins threatened in the seventh inning, getting a runner to second on a walk and stolen base, but Mahony entered the game in relief of Farraye and struck out the first two batters he faced. He got a pop out to keep UCLA from adding on to their lead.

In the top half of the eighth inning, Modlin led off with a single to left. He was then moved to second by a sacrifice bunt from Chase Lambert. After a groundout, Qsar came up to the plate and hit a screaming line drive into right-center field, plating Modlin, and tying the game at 1.

Qsar took to the mound for the bottom of the eighth inning, and gave up a double, but two strikeouts sent the game to the ninth, still tied at 1.

Pepperdine went quietly in the ninth inning, going down 1-2-3 to UCLA relief pitcher Brian Gadsby. In the bottom half of the ninth, Daniel Amaral led off the inning with a single, and was moved over by a dribbler back to the mound. After an intentional walk, Strumpf came to the plate and hit a deep line drive off the base of the wall in left field, the winning run crossing the plate to end the game.
