Baseball Welcomes Washington for Tuesday Afternoon Clash

MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine baseball team is ready to host the Washington Huskies in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Eddy D. Field Stadium.

Tuesday, March 24 | 12:30 pm PT | ESPN+ | Live Stats | Tickets | Game Notes
  • Probable starting pitchers: RHP #32 Pierson Howe (0-0, 9.00 ERA) vs. RHP #55 Tommy Brandenburg (0-0, 2.70 ERA)
Tuesday's contest is a 2-for-1 Tuesday, which includes BOGO tickets, $2 hot dogs, $2 soda, and $2 popcorn (food deals are for the first 30 people at concessions). It also marks the Veterans and Military Appreciation Game. Several veterans, including three current Pepperdine student veterans, will be throwing a ceremonial first pitch. The Waves and Huskies will also go into the stands to shake the hands and thank those who have served and continue to serve. The UCLA Air Force ROTC Detachment 055 Color Guard will present the nation's flag behind home plate, and during the seventh inning stretch, God Bless America will be played. Those who have served or continue to serve our country are invited to visit the tickets link and use the code 'peppvet' by clicking the "enter code" link in the upper-right corner, which will redeem a free ticket (limited availability).

Pepperdine is 5-3 in eight games all-time against the Huskies, including a 3-1 home record. The two squads last faced off on Sunday, March 8, 2015, when the Waves took care of business in a 5-3 victory in Seattle. Freshman starter Ryan Wilson worked into the eighth and Pepperdine got home runs from Chris Fornaci and Manny Jefferson to push the team to the win. Washington hasn't been to Malibu since 2013, when the Waves took two of three from the Huskies. TUESDAY'S GAME
Will mark the first of a five-game homestand for the Waves. Pepperdine will return to WCC action this Friday through Sunday when they welcome San Diego to Malibu. A battle against CSUN on March 31 will conclude the homestand.

UP NEXT
Pepperdine will welcome the San Diego Toreros to Malibu this Friday through Sunday. San Diego dropped two of three this past weekend at home against Gonzaga.

NUMBER 8 IS PRETTY GREAT
Daniel Patterson has been putting up all-conference numbers this season, boasting a .310 average while rocking a .963 OPS. His six home runs are tied for second in the West Coast Conference with San Diego's Jayden Lobliner. Of Patterson's 27 hits this season, 12 have gone for extra bases (five doubles, one triple, six homers), which ranks as a tie for the third-most in the conference. He has racked up 52 total bases so far in 2026, which ranks fourth in the WCC.

HE (W)OSBORNE FOR THIS
Dylan Osborne has made an impact for the Waves despite having just 13 at-bats on the season. In his limited time on the diamond, No. 1 has recorded a .308 average and driven in a pair. He has also swiped one of Pepperdine's seven stolen bases.

MAD MAX
Catcher Max Aude has been consistent behind the plate and in the batter's box this season. Number nine is hitting .295 entering Tuesday's clash with Washington and has dominated right-handed pitchers, recording a .282 average (11-for-39).

SAFE AND SOUND
Julian Nunez has been an on-base machine. Following Friday's contest, Nunez reached base in 11 consecutive games. His ability to get on the basepaths has allowed him to tie with Kai Laxa for the second-most multiple run games with four. He is second on the squad in runs scored with 17 and is third on the team in multi-hit games with six. In three of the last five games, Nunez has either scored two or more runs or had a multi-hit game. Against UCLA last Tuesday, he scored two runs and had two hits, while recording two hits and three runs on Friday night at Saint Mary's in the conference opener.

HITMEN
Daniel Patterson and James Dell'Amico have fortified the Waves' offense this season. Patterson leads the squad with 10 multi-hit games, while Dell'Amico has racked up seven. 'Delly' has also recorded the longest hitting streak (seven games, which he is currently on), while Patterson currently carries a six-game hitting streak. Kai Laxa is riding on their coattails with a five-game hitting streak.

LEADOFF LAXA
Kai Laxa has been effective as the leadoff hitter for Pepperdine. After being moved from the nine-spot to the top spot in Head Coach Tyler LaTorre's lineup, the Waves have won five of their 12 contests, with four of the seven losses coming by only one run. Laxa has shown his ability to fly around the diamond, scoring 14 runs (3rd on the team) and stealing a base on one attempt.

PUTTING THE 'W' IN WECHSBERG
Graduate pitcher Lucien Wechsberg has been one of the most reliable Waves' arms this season. In 11.2 innings, Lucien has recorded a 1.54 ERA along with a 1.11 WHIP. He has given up just eight hits while striking out 13 and walking five. Opponents are hitting .200 off of Wechsberg, who has recorded two of Pepperdine's three saves and tallied two of the Waves' six wins.

DELLY GETTIN' THE JOB DONE
James Dell'Amico has been electric all season with runners on base this season, hitting a whopping .304 (14-for-46) over a team-leading 46 at-bats with at least one runner on base. He is also tied with Daniel Patterson for the team lead in two-out RBI (5). James has been prolific with runners in scoring position as well, hitting .440 (11-for-25) while going 3-for-5 with the bases loaded.
