Baseball to Host Veterans and Military Appreciation Game Tuesday, March 24

MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine baseball team is excited to welcome United States service members to Eddy D. Field Stadium this Tuesday, March 24, as the Waves host the Washington Huskies.

"We are so excited for our upcoming Military Appreciation game this Tuesday, March 24th," said Head Coach Tyler LaTorre. "Last year's game was amazing and we are looking for the same this year. To be in front of our home crowd, with a stadium full of veterans is a huge honor. We will be wearing our camo jerseys and camo hats to commemorate this great day! We are grateful for our veterans and our fellow Americans who served to protect our freedoms."

Several veterans, including three current Pepperdine student veterans, will be throwing a ceremonial first pitch. The Waves and Huskies will also go into the stands to shake the hands and thank those who have served and continue to serve. The UCLA Air Force ROTC Detachment 055 Color Guard will present the nation's flag behind home plate, and during the seventh inning stretch, God Bless America will be played. "Honoring military personnel and veterans is a wonderful Pepperdine tradition, and our annual Military Appreciation Game is a great opportunity to come alongside our Athletics teams to salute our PeppVets and those in the community that served, and continue to serve, our nation," said Pepperdine University Director of Student Veteran Affairs, and retired Air Force Colonel Eric Leshinsky. "This year marks our country's 250th birthday, a milestone earned through the many sacrifices of those that served in uniform; lest we forget. We're excited to once again recognize and honor them, their families, and cheer on the Waves on March 24th!"

Those who have served or continue to serve our country are invited to visit the tickets link and use the code 'peppvet' by clicking the "enter code" link in the upper-right corner, which will redeem a free ticket (limited availability).
