PLAY-BY-PLAY
Pepperdine jumped out of the starting gate to open the first set, amassing a 5-1 run with kills from Alli O'Harra and a block from O'Harra and Heidi Dyer.  Shortly after, the Waves went on a 4-2 run with a pair of aces from Hana Lishman to continue expanding the lead to 9-3.  Late in the set, kills from Dyer and Tarah Wylie and big blocks from Wylie, O'Harra and Hannah Frohling helped the cause en route to an 18-8 spread.  Down the home stretch, the Waves sealed the first set win with a solo rejection from Wylie to win 25-14 and set momentum for the rest of the match.

The second set opened closer than the first.  After a 4-1 Waves' lead courtesy of blocks from Frohling and O'Harra, the opposition closed the gap and came within one at the 6-5 mark.  It would be the closest the Gaels would come, however, as kills from Shannon Scully and more blocks from Wylie and Dyer put the Waves ahead 10-5.  Scully and Wylie went back-to-back on the attack front later in the set and O'Harra collaborated on block efforts with Frohling and Dyer to amass a 20-14 advantage.  Late in the set, Wylie and Dyer denied another block and a service error from across the net sealed the deal with a 25-18 set win for Pepperdine.

Heading into the third set, Pepperdine was intent on shutting down the Gaels in three, and did just that as the Waves quickly worked to a 5-1 advantage courtesy of a strong service effort from Blossom Sato including an ace and blocks from O'Harra with either Dyer or Frohling. The Waves continued to roll with kills from Scully to force a Saint Mary's timeout.  Although the opposition started to cloes the gap momentarily in the set, blocks from Sato and Wylie and kills from Frohling helped Pepperdine maintain a 17-9 lead.  In the final moments of action, Frohling laid down a big smash and the Gaels committed a service error to result in a Waves' sweep on a 25-19 third set victory.
