PLAY-BY-PLAY
The first set was tight from start to finish.  After a 9-9 tie, however, Pacific broke ahead to a 14-10 lead.  Late in the set, the Waves tied things up at 23 apiece, but the opposition collected the two final points necessary to take a 25-23 first set win.

In the second set, it was another close bout, with each side hitting the 14-point mark.  After that, the Tigers went on a three-point run to pull ahead, staying at least one-point ahead over the Waves to a 24-21 advantage.  A block from Alli O'Harra and Jenna Tunnell flipped the script, and a pair of services aces from Blossom Sato put the Waves ahead and looking to secure a set-win.  Hannah Frohling would put the final ball away for a 26-24 set win to tie the overall match.

After close previous sets, Pepperdine jumped out to a solid 12-5 lead in the third with smashes from Shannon Scully and Frohling.  The Waves continued en route to to a sizeable 20-12 lead with an ace from Lily Dyer and a solo rejection from Frohling.  A final smash from Tunnell earned the Waves a 25-15 set win.

The fourth-set proved to be a seesaw battle from start to finish.  After a 10-10 tied score early on, the Waves fell behind by three-points, en route to a 24-21 disadvantage.  Pepperdine rallied to tie the score at 24's with kills from Scully and attack errors from across the net.  Each side went point-for-point, with the Waves staving off five set-point opportunities from the Tigers and Pacific holding off Pepperdine once.  After a tie at 28, an attack error from the Waves and a kill from the home team earned the 30-28 set win to force a fifth set.

Despite falling down early in the final set, Pacific bounced back to tie the score late in the fifth.  After each team had multiple match-point opportunities, the Tigers finished with a service ace to win the match.
