MALIBU, California " The Pepperdine men's basketball team couldn't get it going on either end of the floor on Saturday afternoon and the result was a 73-59 Santa Clara victory in West Coast Conference play.
The Waves (4-18, 1-9) shot just 37.7% from the field while the Broncos (8-14, 5-5) were at 55.3% for the game.

- Sophomore forward Kameron Edwards (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Etiwanda HS) led the Waves in scoring for the third straight game and had 19 points.
- Freshman guard Trae Berhow (Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer HS) matched his season high of 15 points, sank four three-pointers (including a four-point play) and had a team-best seven rebounds.
- Freshman guard Colbey Ross (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest HS) had six points, seven assists and three steals.

- Santa Clara shot better than 50% in both halves, while the Waves were in the 30s in both ends.
- In addition to the overall shooting, Santa Clara went 10-for-21 from distance (47.6%), while Pepperdine was at 6-for-19 (31.6%).
- Though Santa Clara had a 33-26 advantage in rebounding, the Waves had 11 offensive boards and a 15-4 edge in second-chance points.
- The Waves only committed seven turnovers to the Broncos' 11 but SCU had a 9-4 advantage in points off turnovers.

The Waves trailed early, but got hot for one stretch and went ahead 14-11 after back-to-back three-pointers by Darnell Dunn and Berhow. But a 10-0 Santa Clara run would later put the Broncos ahead 23-16, and they pushed the lead to 11 at 33-22 before going into halftime with a 35-28 advantage.
Though the Waves rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to beat LMU on Thursday, there was no comeback this time. Santa Clara kept its lead in double-figures for the final 18 minutes with a high of 20 points at 71-51.
