CHICAGO -- The Pepperdine women's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision at DePaul on Friday afternoon, despite dominating possession and creating the bulk of the chances on the day.
Pepperdine outshot the Blue Demons 13-3 in the game and did not allow DePaul to get a shot off in the second half, but just couldn't finish its chances to equalize. The Waves fall to 3-2-1 on the year.
The lone goal for DePaul came off of a Pepperdine giveaway in the box, as Morgan Turner grabbed the loose ball and snuck a shot inside the post. The Waves' best chance for an equalizing goal came just after the restart, as Brie Welch (Arroyo Grande, Calif./Arroyo Grande HS) fired a shot that hit off the crossbar and Joelle Anderson (San Jose, Calif./Harker School) tried to pounce on the rebound, but was denied by the Blue Demons' keeper, Lauren Frasca.
Pepperdine had four shots on goal in the game to just the one for DePaul.

 | QUOTABLE |
"Tough result for us today," said Head Coach Tim Ward. "We outshot them, but unfortunately gave them a goal right before the half, and that really changes the mood at halftime. Still we had plenty of time and chances after that to get ourselves back in the game. The good news is we showed a good amount of mental strength and quality in the second half, creating three or four beautiful chances. Unfortunately it was just one of those games where we simply didn't hit the target with the opportunities we created. The hope is that we can grow from it and put a better result on the board against Northwestern on Sunday."
